2025 marks a huge milestone for Standish Engineering as we celebrate 75 years of precision, progress, and partnerships. From our humble beginnings in 1950 to becoming one of the UK’s most respected subcontract CNC precision engineering firms, our journey has been defined by innovation, investment, and an unwavering commitment to quality.
Where It All Began
Founded in Standish, Wigan, Standish Engineering started as a small, family-run workshop focused on craftsmanship and reliability. That legacy still drives us today. We’re proud to be a family business - now in its third generation - with a long-standing team, many of whom have been with us for decades.
What’s Changed in 75 Years?
Quite simply - everything and nothing. While our tools, technology, and techniques have evolved dramatically, our values remain the same. Over the decades, we’ve:
- Invested in state-of-the-art CNC bar-fed lathes, chuck lathes, and 5-axis machining centres
- Expanded our team of skilled engineers and apprentices
- Delivered projects across the UK, Europe, North America and the Far East
- Gained ISO9001 certification and RISQS verification to ensure consistently high standards
