Celebrating Chris Heyworth’s Remarkable Journey

On 1st May 1977, 15-year-old Chris Heyworth walked through the doors of Standish Engineering for the very first time. Originally planning a career in the armed forces, a meeting with current owner Nick Kindon’s grandad changed his path - and nearly five decades later, we’re incredibly glad it did. 

From that very first day, Chris showed a dedication and work ethic that would come to define his career. Over the years, he’s become an invaluable part of the Standish Engineering family. Today, Chris oversees our Grinding Section - a specialised area of work that many companies outsource. Thanks to Chris’s skills and experience, we're proud to keep this important function in-house. 

But Chris is more than just a grinder. He’s a mentor, a machine operator, a teacher, and a team player. His passion for the job and the people he works with shines through daily. One of the things he enjoys most is working with apprentices, patiently guiding them and passing on the knowledge he’s gathered through the years. 

His loyalty to Standish Engineering stems from the variety of the work, the camaraderie of the team, and the constant evolution of the company - changes he’s not only witnessed but helped shape.
