At Standish Engineering, we are proud to invest in the next generation of engineers. In September 2024, we welcomed Lewis, our latest apprentice, who joined us straight from Standish High School. Lewis has embarked on an exciting journey as an Apprentice Engineer, splitting his time between Wigan College and hands-on training with us at Standish Engineering.
Lewis’s apprenticeship program spans four years, during which he will gain comprehensive experience in the world of precision engineering. One day each week is dedicated to his studies at Wigan College, while the remainder of his training takes place here in our workshop. This balance ensures he develops both the theoretical knowledge and practical skills required to excel in the industry.
Since joining us, Lewis has embraced the variety of tasks involved in precision engineering. He has the unique opportunity to learn all aspects of our work, from CNC machining to grinding and everything in between. Currently, Lewis is particularly enjoying his time working alongside Chris in the grinding room and Kyle on one of our newest machines, gaining valuable insights and hands-on experience with cutting-edge equipment.
We are committed to nurturing talent and creating opportunities for our apprentices to grow. Lewis has already shown great enthusiasm and potential, and we look forward to following his progress throughout his apprenticeship and beyond. Whether he chooses to continue his studies after completing his apprenticeship or takes on new challenges within Standish Engineering, we are confident that Lewis has a bright future ahead.
At Standish Engineering, we believe that supporting apprenticeships is not just an investment in individuals but also in the future of engineering. Welcome to the team, Lewis!
