As our business continues to grow, we're recruiting for two exciting opportunities to join our skilled production team.
CNC Machining Centre Setter / Programmer
You'll be responsible for producing high precision machined components on CNC machining centres from engineering drawings.
This is a varied role involving one-offs through to medium batch production.
Hours: Full-time (38 hours per week, plus overtime as required)
Responsibilities:
- Setting and operating CNC machining centres
- Programming (on-machine or offline depending on experience)
- Reading engineering drawings
- Selecting tooling and work holding
- Producing first-off components
- Inspecting components using measuring equipment
- Maintaining excellent quality standards
- Helping improve machining methods and cycle times
- Working closely with production and inspection teams
Essential
- Time served machinist or equivalent experience
- Previous experience setting machining centres
- Ability to read engineering drawings
- Understanding of tolerances
- Excellent attention to detail
- Positive attitude
- Reliable and punctual
Desirable
- Haas and Fanuc experience
- 5-axis machining experience
- One CNC software knowledge
- Experience with stainless steels, alloy steels and aluminium
CNC Turner Setter / Operator
To set and operate CNC turning machines to manufacture precision-engineered components to customer drawings and specifications, ensuring products meet the company's high standards for quality, delivery and efficiency.
Hours: Full-time (38 hours per week, plus overtime as required)
Key Responsibilities:
- Set and operate CNC lathes in accordance with engineering drawings and route cards.
- Load, prove-out and run CNC programmes.
- Select and install appropriate tooling, fixtures and work-holding equipment.
- Produce first-off components for inspection and approval.
- Carry out in-process inspection using precision measuring equipment.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, dimensions and tolerances.
- Maintain dimensional accuracy throughout production runs.
- Adjust machine offsets and tooling to maintain product quality.
- Complete all production and quality documentation accurately.
- Work to ISO 9001 quality procedures and company operating standards.
- Ensure components are clearly identified and handled correctly throughout manufacture.
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment (5S principles).
- Carry out routine machine maintenance and report faults promptly.
- Work efficiently to achieve production targets whilst maintaining quality.
- Assist with continuous improvement activities where appropriate.
- Support colleagues and contribute to a positive team environment.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Previous experience setting and operating CNC turning machines.
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
- Competent using micrometers, verniers, bore gauges and other precision measuring equipment.
- Good understanding of machining tolerances.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Good problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Flexible approach to overtime when required.
Desirable
- Experience with Fanuc controls.
- Experience producing precision components for subcontract engineering.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 quality systems.
- Apprentice trained or equivalent engineering qualification.
- Experience machining a range of materials including steels, stainless steels, aluminium and exotic alloys.
